So, let's start shall we...

What can a man in his early twenties say about himself? I'm only 21 and it feels like half of my life is already behind me... all I have is my oedinary appearance... and a life full of the ups and downs wgich are normal for people of my age. Well... Almost normal. After all, not everyone gets flunked out of their final year of law school, and it wasn't due to laziness or poor grades... but because I had eyes for the wrong girl.



Okay, okay... not quite flunked.


There was no formal reason for my expilsion; I had great academic performance... but there are times when you're so bullheaded... that you're willing to grapple with... the Chancellor's son just to impress your crush... So you get the idea, huh?



Luckily, my parents were able to use their influence to bury the issue. However, it became clear that there was no way I would finish that college. What choice did I have? Transfer to another college? Great answer, but I didn't live in a big city, so I did not have many of the options.
Eternal question: What do I do?



Should I forget about all the years of law school and getting my diploma? It's ridiculous, but thankfully my parents had a better idea. They suggested that I finish elsewhere. Though it was not as easy as it had seemed; nowadays hostels are just a pain in the ass, on the other hand, to live in a rented accomodation is way too expensive. Who would have thought that fate would smile upon me at last? My dad's old school friend left for the State and his one-bedroom flat in Ensk was suddenly free. Weagreed that I would look after the flat; all I had to pay for were the utilities. Now, the only task I had left to do, was to agree on a transfer to a new college, and luckily everything went smoothly. When all the arrangements had been madem I hit the road.

I was walking to the college thinking about my old life, the one I doubted I would ever get back to... and when I reached the end of the street I noticed an attractive young girl. Her shapely figure and light, determined walk drew my gaze. As I passed by, I couldn't help nut keep staring... Of course she noticed it...



... and sweetly smiled back. Realizing how inappropriate it probably seemed... I managed to tear my gaze away and kept going. What's gotten into me? I believe that appearance is definitely not the most important thing in a girl. I already fell for a pretty face once and I am not going to make the same mistake twice. Unfortunately, this encounter awakened feelings that I had hidden deeply inside of me. Feelings that I would like to forget and, more specifically, the reason why I had to come to this shitty, godforsaken place.



"I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even notice when I arrived at the college. It was a couple of minutes before the classes would begin, so I hurried up.



"I need to get to lecture hall no. 20.



As I entered the class I accidentally pushed a girl and she fell right on her bottom. I could clearly see her underwear from where I was standing. I froze for a second but regained control of myself and lent her a helping hand.



"Are you okay? I am so sorry, I didn't notice you," I said. "That's okay, I understand that you didn't do it on purpose," she said.
Not wanting to continue our conversation, she left. She's kinda weird.



When I sat down, I was amazed to see the girl I had been drooling over on the way to college. Turning around she noticed my gaze and smiled warmly. Our eyes met. Her ice-blue, bottomless eyes chained me, their power would not let me escape from this visual duel. I don't know whether she liked my atention or if it was just a funny situation for her, but she smiled at me for a second time. So, while I was thinking how to react, she just turned away and went about her usual stuff. I have to admit that she is pretty. Although, I have no interest in her or any other women for the time being. I have been in trouble before because of a cute smile and am still paying the price for it.



Our teacher walked in at 8:30 sharp. She was an extremely elegant-looking woman; I'd guess that she's no more than 30 years old. Her excellent figure, long, beautiful legs and Double-Ds would make even an impotent man hard. Leaning against the table, she starts the lecture. I was unwittingly darting glances at the girl in the front row. There was something about her, something tempting that caught me from the very first sight.
"Alright everyone, you can go now. Do not forget about the upcoming quiz. I strongly recommend that you don't take it lightly. Goodbye," Alana Victoria said.

While there is still time I'd better take a look around.
"Hey, asshole!" "Erm..." I said. "Yeah, you. Tell me, bro, what the fudge are you doing here?"
Realizing that to back down was the worst option since everyone would find out and, what's worse, there's the prospect of becoming the local wanker, I decide to say:
"Frankly, it's none of your fucking business..." "What? Oh shit, you're gonna regret that..." he said.
Don't wait - punch him.



"Are you okay? Can you hear me?" "I can hear you and what makes me so happy is that I can see you. Although, only with one eye," I said. "You need to be in a hospital, you may have a concussion. Who did this?" she said. "I don't know, some guy messed with me, I remember moving to punch him and then... darkness. I guess he's from our course year. Shaven-headed, pumped-up guy in a striped shirt and dark trousers." 
I unwillingly got up and my headache was unbearable. It seemed to me that she was disappointed by what I just told her, a weird reaction given the situation. However, maybe I really was punched too hard.



"Quite an interesting way of welcoming new ones to your college. Well, never mind. Listen, I am not going to any hospital, but I could use a helping hand," I said. "How can I help you?" she said. "I thought that maybe you would walk me home. What if I black out on the way? You would never forgive yourself, am I right? What do you say?" "Oh, what a smart-alec you are. You managed to fight with someone and hit on a girl on the first day." "I am doing pretty well so far, aren't I?" I said. "Pretty well in what?" "Well, in life I guess. Impudence wins! What do you think I meant?" "Oh, now I see what you meant. I get hit on by a lot of guys, you know, but no one has ever done it like this. I am even kind of curious," she said. "Good, noted; has an interest in curious things." "Hey, hold your horses." "Oh, my head is spinning... I guess I hit it pretty hard. Well, I can go alone if you're so cold-hearted, thanks for the help..." I said. "Oh, don't whine, I am coming. Can you walk or maybe you need a delicate girl's shoulder? One rule, try to keep your hands to yourself, okay?" "No, no, what's the point of all this if I have to keep my hands off? Take it easy, I am joking; I don't get handsy until the second date anyway," I said. "Noted: has a thing for theatrical stuff and gives up easily," I whispered to myself. "I would love to slap you, but I'm afraid you might fall again. You are funny though, I wish I'd met you earlier," she said. "You are not so bad yourself. Don't worry, I guess we will meet again. By the way, what is your name?" "Helena." "I am Alex. Well, let's go," I said.



We were walking, talking about trivial stuff. Helena turned out to be a charming person to talk to. Though sometimes it seemed to me that something was burdening her. I tried not to think about it. It's been the first time in recent memory when I could forget about everything and just have a good time with someone.
"It is a weird feeling, you know, we have just met, but it is so easy to talk to you, it's like I have known you for eternity," she said. "Maybe it is destiny? Has that crossed your mind?" I said. "Destiny? Don't exaggerate, but still I agree that nothing just happens. If we met then I am sure there is a purpose behind it." "I hope you are right," I said. "What do you mean?" "Well, it would be sad if I was punched for no reason." "Oh, come on, Alex, will you ever be serious?" she said.



"Well, here we are, that's where I live," I said. "Turns out we are neighbours! I may drop by someday to have a cup of tea," Helena said. "I want to believe that this won't be the only reason for you to come over. That would be a major disappointment... to just drink tea in the company of such a beautiful woman." "What else are you suggesting we drink then? Or... hang on... are we talking about drinking at all? I did not expect such an obvious approach to a woman you've known for only half an hour. Moreover, you kept staring at my breasts without any hint of shame, all the way home. Just to let you know, I also have eyes and it turns out you are a vulgar young man." My eye hurts a lot. I should check whether it's as bad as it feels. The bump under my eye is quite big.



Carefully, for fea of making the pain even worse, I washed the wound and disinfected it using an ointment from a medicine box. Thanks to Mom who had insisted on taking it with me. I remember making up so many exuses just to avoid yaking this box...  
I hope the eye won't be swollen by tomorrow, the eyebrow-cut is an unpleasant thing after all.
It's time to hit the books. Good job, now I can go to bed.



Finally, the first dat is over. I have to admit it was a rather rough one. I got punched in the face and met a nice girl. I thought something like this is only possible in movies.


I needed to be in college soon so I unwillingly dragged myself up. Before I'm off to college I should take a shower and eat something.
I left home and slowly walked to college. I was in a foul mood because of the black eye that everyone would be bound to notice and there was also the very real possibility of bumping into that shithead again. I was not going to back down, but after our first confrontation I realized that, physically and technically, my opponent was way ahead of me.
Across the street, I noticed the girl I accidentally bumped into yesterday. I decided to approach her and say hello and apologize one more time since I had no chance to do it properly yesterday.

"Hi, do you remember me? We're in the same class and I accidentally pushed you yesterday... I wanted to apologize. You left so quickly that I had no chance to apologize," I said. "No need to worry; nobody ever notices me... and you did apologize. Only after you took a glance up my skirt of course..." she said. "Not gonna lie, I did. I'm... sotty. I did it without thinking." "A knee-jerk reaction then? Chill, I don't think that you've seen anything new down there anyway. In truth, I find it a little flattering." "Can I ask you something?" I said. "Well... it depends on the question." "You just said that no one notices you. Why's that?" "That's way too personal. Anyway, it's a long story. There are always invisible people around you, you know. Please spare me your beautiful and not like any other speech and save your cheap pick-up lines for another girl. There are a lot of them in our class and I'm sure most will fall for it." "Sorry, I didm't mean to offend you, I just wanted to know the reason, that's all. Since you don't feel comfortable in my company, I'll go." "Wait. I'm sorry. I don't know what's gotten into me. My name is Helga," she said. "Nice to meet you. I'm Alex."



We had some time before the beginning of the classes so we slowly walked to college together.
"Well, here we are. It was nice talking to you. I would like to chat with you again someday, but for now, excuse me, I have to go to the library. See you later?" Helga said. "Of course you'll see me, we're in the same class," I chuckled. "Oh, yes, silly me. actually, I wanted to say that..." "No,no, I got you, it's just a terrible joke, sorry. I really would love to chat with you again someday." "By the way, Alex, there's a beautiful park nearby... you should go sometime," she said.
Helga headed to the library and I went into the main building. Murphy's Law... I bumped into the last person I wanted to see... and there's nowhere to ru anyway.



"Wow, 'sup asshole?" he said. 
However, luck was on my side today. This luck came right up behind me.
"Get into the class, lazybones! And you Vldislav, do not forget where you are!"
Helena. Does she have a boyfriend? Shit, the last thing I need is to completely fall for her. She treats me well, but who knows what any woman really thinks...?
At 8.30 sharp, you can tell the time by Alanna's abnormally (for a woman) punctual arrival, the class begins.
"New topic, get ready to take notes," she said.
Exhausted by the boring lectures, I went out. Helena was already gone. That's a pity, I was thinking about walking home with her. Although, I could still go to the park Helga told me about.

The park is really beautiful. Suddenly I bumped into the familar face.



"Hi Helga, didn't expect to see you here..." I said. "Hi yourself. That's funny, how come you didn't expect to see me here if it was me who told you about this place? I was feeling awkward after I did it... but I still hoped that you would drop by someday," she said. 
We slowly strolled along the path in the park. Helga's honesty had embarrassed me a little so I ecided to change the subject...
"So... how often do you spend time here?" I asked. "Well. I finf it refreshing to spend some time in the open air among trees and silence, away from the noise of the city, most people are still at work at this time of day," Helga said. "You dislike being in public places?" "Erm... I didn't mean... Oh... Yeah, I do. But please stop asking me. Don't spoil the moment."
I guess curiosity did kill the cat. Maybe it's better to slow down.
"It's nice here. I am happy that you told me about this place," I said. "You know, we can..." Helga began. "... meet here sometimes, just to have a walk and chat with each other, you know. I think that would be great, that's if you don't mind, of course," I finished for her. "Nope, I'm rather all for it," she said.
We spend a lot of time talking about trivial stuff and enjoying the silence around us. It turned out Helga was a woman with a well-furnished mind. That made me wonder even more, why would no one want to talk to her? Bearing in mind she's beautiful and the fact she wasn't silly, guys literally had to be chasing after her.



"I have to go or my parents will worry about me. Dad is picking me up so don't follow me, okay?" she said. "Yeah, sure. Bye Helga, see you," I said.
Second day - second girl, not a bad result I would say. Only in my dreams, I gues, since chatting and walking isn't something to brag about. Still, it's not too bad. Alright, enough daydreaming. Time to sleep.

When I left my room, I saw Ann lying on the couch reading a magazine. In truth, the magazine was the last thing I really cared about in that moment. She was wearing black, translucent panties, which followed her curve deeply down between her juicy buttocks. She had no bra and this barely concealed nudity aroused and attracted me. I stopped unintentionally and stared at her with hungry eyes. She pretented not to notice.



That's enough, I should get going now. It's kind of creepy.
Seems like there's no adventure today. Oh well, the lecture is going to start soon. Helena was cheerfully talking with someone...

Alanna walked into the lecture hall. She greeted everyone and started her lecture.
"Break time."
I decided to come to Helena who was standing all alone in the hall.
"Hi, how are you? How's your eye?" she said. "I'm... very good now. As for my eye, so-so, I can see at least. It's good to see you," I said. "Compliments all of a sudden, since when did you become a gentleman?"
What a devil you are. Okay, then we'll play by your rules...



"No, you've got me wrong. It's good that it's break time so I can stretch my legs at least. And yes... one-one. Helena, can we meet sometime? I mean not in college," I said. "So soon to the meeting stuff. Hmm... The answer depends on what you're willing to do for such a privilege," she said. "Come on, I'm being serious and you're making fun of me." "I am absolutely serious too. If you wake up early, about 6AM, and go to the steet Sovetskaya, building 62 you will meet me there... If your body is half as sharp as your tongue, you might even be able to keep up. Don't stare at me like that. I run on Thuesdays and Thursdays. It's boring when you're alone so I could use the company." "Oh, you're so mean. I'll be there," I said. "That's what I was counting on. As far as me being so mean... I am who I am... deal with it... I did warn you about it. Oh, by the way, I haven't even started to be mean yet, but the break is almost over, let's go. Don't get too bored," she said.
So she left, her movements were clearly planned out to flaunt her perfect, tight ass. It's not how I imagined our first date, but at least it's something. I hope I know what I'm doing.
Alanna returned from break and our suffering continued.
"Where was I..."

It wouldn't be a bad thing to do something about mt physical conditioning. That asshole has a bad habit; when his fists itch he uses my face to scratch them. However, I am not sure whether it's going to help me... 
It's strange that he wasn't around today. Anyway, physical training will be useful...

The main thing is the speed of your reaction and a well-placed punch. Shall we begin?" she said.



We worked hard. After a while, it seemed to me that I was just being used as a punch bag. Every part of my body screamed with pain, still, I endured it.
"That wasn't bad. Don't come back for three days; it's going to hurt for a while. My name is Natalia by the way," she said. "I'm Alex. Bye for now," I said.
When I came home, Ann was reading another magazine.



"Hi," I said. "Hi yourself." "What are you reading?" "Do you care?" she said.
She didn't even bother to look at me. Realizing Ann is out of sorts, I decided to leave her alone. I should prepare for classes.
Good job, now I can go to bed. What a day. Ann arrived like a bolt from the blue. Shit, how is it that she lives with me now? What if I persuade Helena to come over? Ann may be a problem. Alright... I should rest since tomorrow I am going for a run.

I had to wake up early today. I promised Helena I'd go running today, even if my whole body screamed with pain from the training yesterday, and even if a run is the last thing I needed at that moment. On the other hand... I promised Helena and she's probably take offense if I failed to go. Helena was waiting for me when I arrived.



"I see you dared to show yourself, frankly, I thought you wouldn't be interested," she said. "And hello to you, too, Helena. To be honest, I'm not here for the training," I said. "Oh, come on now. You're embarrassing me. Let's go to the park. It's quieter there and the air is better."



"Let's start with our warm-up," she said.
Helena began stretching which emphasized her athletic body. Obviously all this training is not completely useless.
"Have you come to train or just stare at me? Quit slacking off! Come on, help me," she said.
Her playful voice brought me back to my senses. Though it was a bit upsetting. If only she knew the pain I felt every time I moved...
"Sure, what do I do?" I said. "Press on my back so I can touch the ground."



Helena was moaning with pain but she kept on stretching. At last, she touched the ground.
"Let's run, try not to fall behind," she said.
Helena set a good pace. It had been a long time since my last run, so soon enough I was exhausted and had no kick left in me. It was beginning to feel like torture. I tried not to think about the constant pain in my muscles. Only forward. The only thing that held me up was the fact I was running with her. I was beginning to like this girl more and more. Though the rising urge to spit my lungs out was rather unhelpful.



"You're doing quite well, actually. I hope I'm not too fast for you?" she said. "No... no... it's...... great."
I tried to put a brave face on, but my shortness of breath betrayed me by revealing to the world that I was going to run out of steam soon. Helena must have realized that I'd rather hit the ground than tell her I was tired so she decided not to torture me anymore and stopped.
"You said you only came for me?" she said. "No Helena, I enjoy getting up at 6AM in order to come into the park and run until a black veil covers my eyes. It's my favorite way of spending time. No pain, no gain, right?" I said. "I'm happy that you did come and I hope your legs won't fall of tomorrow morning. Are you done for good or will you come again?" "You won't get rid of me that easily Helena, of course I will. After all... I still want your phone number." "My number? That is a serious intent. Well, in that case you'd better get used to our training. Okay, same time, same place on Thuesday. Let's go home, I need to tidy myself up before class," she said.

I stepped into the shower and the cold water pleasantly refreshed my head and woke my body. I made fried egges with bacon and brewed some coffee, so the breakfast was quite hearty.



Helena was talking with her friend again. Having said Hi to her, I sat down. Alanna walked into the lcture hall a few minutes later.
"Our topic today is..."

"Oh, you're early. I got a bit carried away... you know how it goes... I'll just go take a shower," she said.

Having said that... she went towards the shower. I guess I have no choice but to follow her advice. Oh God, that feels better! stress released... it's now time to hit the books.



... What a housemate she is; on one hand, it's good that I don't live alone and that's it's a woman I'm living with, but on the other... regular scenes like that will blow my mind. I should try to get some sleep.





I stepped into the shower and the cold water pleasantly refreshed my head and woke my body. Ann jumped me the moment I got out of the shower. Her black, see-through underwear wasn't designed to hide what was underneath for sure. She really has no shame given that she isn't in the slightest bit embarrassed by standing half-naked in front of a stranger. I could see her eyes were full of displeasure so I was expecting anothe round of her hatred and blaming.

I got to college without any trouble. Helga was absent and Helena was talking with her friend as usual. I took my seat. Alanna arrived in the lecture hall.



She is gorgeous, as always. There is something about her... under this severe mask... Though I guess I will never find out what that something is.
"Class is over, you may go."
Helena left with her friends, earlier than I. Sometimes I feel that she's trying to avoid me. Though when we're alone, everything is different. Maybe she is just playing around with me... it would be sad if it's true. 
Ann isn't home, thank goodness; it's so much better without her. I should prepare for my classes. And... I'm done, it's time to go to bed.

"Let's put aside our mutual desire to mess around with each other for a moment... You know that I've never asked what you do and who you talk to. We live together but all we do is just constantly tease each other, maybe it's time to change something..." I said. "You're right and I'm sorry I was so rude to you. Sometimes I act like a real bitch. I promise I will behave myself because I really need a friend like you..." Ann said.
She put a hand on my knee and smiled. That smile looked so theatrical and I detected a faint note of sarcasm in her voice.
"Are you for real or is this just a new attempt to mock me? If it is the second, you failed," I said. "That's your task for today... try to solve my mysterious nature," she said.
Ann left, so I made breakfast and sat down to eat.



On my way to college, I saw Helena.
"Hi. I couldn't catch you during the last few days, you always seem to disappear somewhere... It's as if you're trying to avoid me on purpose," I said. "Don't talk shit, it's not like that," she said. "Then I don't know the reason for your behavior at all. Maybe you gave a vow of chastity and now you are afraid to break it." "ALEX!" "What's eating you? I'm just joking, trying to cheer you up..." I said. "I know, I know... sorry. I am under a lot of pressure right now. I'm just not myself." "Something serious?" "I'd better not tell you for the time being. It's just a bit of a personal problem. By the way, my sister has come this weekend. I see her once a year and Alanna has assigned a term paper to be handed in on Monday or I won't be allowed to sit the exam. Bitch! I asked her for an extension but she likes winding me up. She doesn't seem to care at all..." Helena said. "So that's your problem? I don't know why you made such a fuss about it, just email me your term paper and it will be done by Monday... problem solved." "No! No, sorry I can't. I'm grateful, of course, but..." "Don't be ridiculous, next time you can help me. I have no doubt in that and believe me, I am the master of getting into trouble," I said. "Nevertheless, I say no." "Helena stop acting like a child. I offered you help and I did so out of the kindness of my heart. Let me get this straight, when you're looking for someone to run with you need me, but when it's about studies, you're independent, am I right? Maybe I'm not an A level student but I do know something about law and I am sure I'll be able to do no worse than you. Do you have any idea that after our training my legs are still in pain? Even so, our next training is on Tuesday and I still plan to come. The funny thing there is that your conscience isn't bothering you over that. If you refuse my help now, then don't bother waiting for me on Tuesday, got it?" I said. "Do you have any idea that you're threatening to stop doing something you don't like because I won't email you my work? You've put me in an awkward position... Looking at this from another angle, you would really be helping me out. I just hope I will be able to repay you someday." "I have no doubt about it." "We should go, classes are about to begin," she said.



We went into the lecture hall and took our seats.

Alanna appeared a minute later. She welcomed everyone and started to lecture on a new topic.
"Break time."
I decided to spend the break time outside of the class in order to stretch a bit and take a breath. Helena must have gone somewhere again, making it impossible for me to spend more time with her. At least I noticed Helga standing nearby.



"What's up, decided to stretch your legs?" she said. "Yeah, Alanna is loading us down with so much information today, I can barely keep my eyes open," I said. "It's normal, we are a graduating class and this year is a piece of cake in comparison with the previous year, that was hell." "Helga, do you know what happened with Vlad? I don't see him in class at all." "You'd better stay away from him..." she said. "I'd like to but it's not up to me. I don't know why he keeps messing with me," I said. "He is absent because he is a sportsman rather than a student. He represents our college at different competitions. He spends most of his time training. You know, Alex, I didn't want to tell you... I don't like meddling in matters that don't concern me, but..."



"Helga, I need your help." "Sorry. We will talk about it later," she told me.
I wonder what about...

Alanna came back after a couple of minute. The lecture continued.
"Class is over, you may go."
When I went out Vlad was standing in the corridor.



He stood there, just watching me and I had no desire to find out what kind of rats were in his attic today. I had to go.
Ann still hadn't come home yet. I wonder what she's doing at night...

Alanna came into the lecture hall.
"Be ready to take notes..."
Just when I thought about taking a walk... Someone suddenly touched my shoulder. I turned around and found Helga.



"How is it going? I am so happy to see you," she said. "It's going fine, I was thinking about going out to buy something, I feel hungry. Can I ask... why do you keep missing lessons?" I said. "Our dean made me help put books away in the relevant library catalogues. So you could say it's my personal education plan." "Lucky you, you're in the library while we're writing lectures down non-stop. Let me guess, you're home free in addition, yesh?" "There's nothing to be jealous about. I'd prefer to sit in a class rather than poking around a library," she said. "I wanted to thank you for our walk in the park, I really liked it." "I liked it too... Don't forget, we agreed to meet there again sometime." "Of course I remember that," I said.
We cheerfully talked about trivial stuff until the end of break.
-Well, I have to go. It was nice seeing you," she said. "Bye Helga. It was nice seeing you too," I said.



After the day in college I decided to visit the gym...
"Hello! Fancy a training?" she said. "Yeah, let's continue," I said.
We worked hard. After a while, it seemed to me that she was using me as a punch bag. My body ached all over, but I endured.
-Well done, come again in three days," she said. "Bye Natalia," I said.



"'Sup Ann, decided to train?" I said. "Well done Captain Obvious," she said.
One day she will push me over the edge... I should prepare for class. Whew, I think I'm done. It was an average day after all. Nothing really worth remembering.



... Ann's new panties, maybe? Alright, time to sleep.

I promised Helena that I would run with her today, but it's still so hard to wake up at 6AM...



"Good morning. I wanted to say thanks one more time, my sister sends her thanks as well," she said. "Maybe your sister sent a kiss that you should deliver? Although I'd be happy enough just to meet her. If she's as beautiful as you are we'd need no delivery..." I said. "You can both... do without. Let's go." "I'd never have guessed that you're a jealous one..." "Oh sweetie, you'll regret that today..." she said.
Helena smiled almost imperceptibly...



We started our warm-up.
"Are you ready?" Helena asked. "I'm always ready!" I said.
This time I felt like a fish in water, I easily ran alongside her and could even look at her. She smiled back at me. I felt so great just being near her, but our run was over all-too-soon.
"You're doing well today, you even managed to keep up," she said. "You should train our national team. If it wasn't for you, no way I would ever get up so early just for a run," I said. "Alright... Let's go home or we'll be late for classes."



Looks like there's nothing unusual happening today. I went in and took my seat. Alanna arrived a couple of minutes later. She welcomed everyone and started to lecture on a new topic.
"Break time."



"Hell of a day. Ready for a quiz?" Helena said. "I guess so. Anyway, I'm not worried about it," I said. "Well, I do worry. Oh, if only you knew how tired I am of this procedural law. I don't know what turns me off the most; procedual law or Alanna?" "What happened between the two of you? Did you steal her boyfriend?" "Ha.ha how funny. I was going to tell you, but now I've changed my mind," she said. "Then I'll do without I guess. I've managed to survive without your number, I think I'll be okay without your story. Though I can help you with procedual law. It only seems so hard because of all the theory involved, but in reality it's way easier than you think. If you know the procedure and understand the theoretical part then it's really simple to apply. If you're interested just drop by tonight and I'll train you. I mean I will teach you... I mean...." "You will teach me how to drink tea? Come on, don't tense up, I will come since you asked so politely." "You're making it sound like I need tou and not vice versa. What did I ever see in you?" I said. "I wonder myself... You really are messed up, young man," she said. "Run while you can," she whispered. "Keep dreaming, I am stubborn. How about we walk home together?" "Sorry I can't. I'll come by yours in the evening, okay?" "Well, okay. Let's go to class," I said.



I went back in and took my seat. Alanna returned after a couple of minutes.
"So, let's continue..."

I quickly put my room in order and asked Ann to 'take a walk' which made me slightly nervous. Doorbell ring!



"Hi, come in and make yourself at home," I said. "You've just been waiting for me, haven't you?" she said. "I have, let's start. The soone we start, the sooner we'll come... to the end." "Oh, you're hopeless." "Is that a bad thing?" I said. "I... haven't decided yet. Let's get down to it. Just don't scold me too hard, sir..." she said. "And you call me hopeless... Here we go..."



"Thank you, you're great at explaining things. You should think about becoming a teacher," she said. "Do you think so? I would definitely kick you out of college for poor academic performance," I said. "Well, thanks, I'd expect nothing les from you. You chose quite a weird way to impress a girl." "It's working though." "Okay, I need to go. Thanks for the help, my friend," she said. "So... we're friends already?" "Do you mind? If you do, I won't impose on you any longer. It just semed to me that..." "No, I'm rather all for it. It seems that way to me too," I said. "I wanted to tell you something..." "As a rule, boys say it first; I want to tell you something too..." "Alex..." she said. "Helen... I... I like you..." "So fast? You literally know nothing about me." "Spare me the theatrics. You've known this for a long time. I really like you. I am aware that we don't know each other very well and I didn't want it to happen, but it's not up to me. This goes beyond logic," I said.



"Alex... Things are not always as we want to see them. Sometimes you jut have to do what..." she said. "I get it, I'll  stop. So..." I said. 
I was lost in my thoughts. I tried to keep calm but it looked unconvincing. Things didn't go as planned. Still I had to find the decent way out of this situation.
"I haven't been turned down for a long time, I dunno what to say. I guess eveything is clear..." I said. "No one is turning you down and nothing is clear. You're a good person..." she said. "Don't..."
My voice trembled treacherously.
"The 'good person' part was unnecessary," I said. "If you would like to stop chatting after this, I'll understand," she said. "No way, I don't want you to be kicked out." "You're still kidding around... Bye Alex," she said. "Bye..."
That's very embarrassing. It's weird in the light of the fact that it's not the first failure in my love life, somehow I still feel really shitty about it. I guess you always have to be ready for such an outcome. However, nothing is completely lost yet... Did I really want her to jump in my bed after confession? Would I treat her the same way if it were to happen? If only everything was so simple... I bet she hesitated for a reason... Women don't do anything without a reason behind it.

"Hold on a second young man. Am I right to say that you have no interest in my subject? Instead of paying attention to the lecture, you prefer to stare at my legs! Maybe you think that paying attention to my appearance will make it easier for you in tomorrow's quiz?" she said. "I don't expect any kind of free pass. As for your legs, I'll try to dream about someone else's while preparing for the quiz," I said. "You bit off more than you can chew! Your impudence may be very useful in life, someone may even like it, but tomorrow you will be up first. We'll see if you can rise to the challenge." "I am sure it's going to be a great opportunity to prove to you that I can think about something beautiful and do something constructive at the same time." 
I guess I shouldn't have said it.
"We'll see," she said.
I hope I didn't go too far saying this to our strictest teacher. I must be in so much trouble. Though what is bred in the bone will not go out of the flesh. No way will I be expelled a second time, but this entire situation with Helena... has really freaked me out.



Leaving the building, I noticed Helga hanging around just outside the college.
"What's up Helga. Are you going home? Do you mind my company since we're practically going to the same place?" I said. "Hi. Of course, let's go, my dad won't be picking me up today and it's boring to go alone. Besides, I like talking with you," she said. 
There was a short pause. I noticed that Helga was becoming increasingly more open towards me every time we met.
"So... why did you move here? Did... something go wrong?" she wondered. "Nothing worth mentioning. Just got into trouble and the best solution was to move," I said. "Do you miss your old life?" "I guess so. I try not to think about it, my main goal right now is to graduate college. Besides, I see no point in missing the old life, everything has its own benefits. For example, today I'm going to hit the books in order to be ready for a quiz... Alanna has helpfully promised to make it really difficult for me." 



"Alanna Victoria may be weird sometimes but she isn't a bad person. She used to be very different... You'd better be ready, because if she promised she will surely keep her word," she said. "Helga, would you like to come over? Just to watch a film, nothing more," I said. "I thought you were going to hit the books... Besides, I have things to do. Maybe Friday?" "Yeah, great. Is five o'clock good for you?" "Good. I wish you luck with your prep-work," she said.
I need to make a presentation for tomorrow. I decided to brush up on all the topics we have covered.



That's it, I'm done. Alanna can do anything she wants with me, I just can't read this stuff any longer. Totally exhausted by today's events, I fell asleep right away.

Helena looked distraught and lost in her thoughts as she sat down. I decided, in that moment, to go to her later and offer my help. I just couldn't leave her struggling, regardless of how pissed I am with her.
"The next one will be..." Alanna said.



"That was horrifying; no one except for Alex, the new guy. was ready. Watch yourselves... The exam is coming up soon and this kind of performance won't be good enough... You may go," Alanna said.
I went to Helena, she was still sitting.
"Helena..."



Helena stood up and turned to me. I could see the dejection and a mist of suppressed tears in her eyes.
"Don't get upset, I will help you if you need me to. I am free today at five... so drop by and we will discuss any questions you have," I said. "I really need it but... In the evening I can't. We can go right now if it's ok with you..." she said.
The memories hit me in a flash-flood of horrible images. I remembered her in the arms of another guy, even though my mind kept on telling me that he is her boyfriend and that I had no right to be hurt or angry, my heart had a decidedly different opinion. Pain and bitterness took over, clouding my judgement and sanity.
"Of course you can't, I already know why and what kind of business you have. If that's the case, let's go and get this done with so you can get back to doing what you need to," I said.
I realized I was being nasty to a girl I had some pretty deep feelings for, but I just couldn't help it, the anger just poured out of me...
"Alx, no... you misunderstood... I..." she said. "No Helena, you don't owe me any explanations... it's not like we had anything going on. I shouldn't have said that stuff, it was petty and it's none of my business what you do and who you do it with. I offered you help and instead... I started lecturing you about how you should live... I'm... sorry. Everything's gonna be fine," I said.

I was engrossed in my thoughts but was still unable to stop myself looking at her too. Again, my anger fogged up my sanity and the lump in my throat was getting bigger and bigger... but any attempt to work out what she had actually done wrong and why I'm so hurt by it all, ended in utter failure and another flood of pain and bitterness.



"Come in," I said.



It's the very definitition of Sod's Law that... just as we walked in... Ann stepped out of the shower. Proposing that Helena come over doesn't seem such a great idea, especially now that I've remembered about the half-naked girl living in my flat...
"Oh... Alex... you brought a girl home! You could at least warned me, I would have worn something more decent. Ummm, ok... I won't disturb you."
Not waiting for any response, Ann went straight to my room.
"Is she your girlfriend?" Helena wondered. "Does it matter?" I said. "No... I'm pleased for you... good job! You work fast..." "I do what I can... Let's get down to business, shall we? It's like this. You see...? You did really well today, it really is easier that it seemed, is it not?"



"Alex... can we talk?" "I don't think that's a good idea..." I said. "No, you will hear me out! Why are you so angry with me? What exactly did I do to you? I didn't tell you that I have a boyfriend, okay, fair enough, I'll put my hands up to that one, but you never bothered to ask me. Secondly, why should I tell you about my private life, bearing in mind that we've barely even met? Why didn't I tell you who he was? Doe it really change anything? I asked him to leave you alone... Do you think it's easy to ask something like that when your boyfriend is jealous of every guy? Our relationship is hard enough even without your interference... Dammit... You... You recently told me that you liked me and here you are living with another girl... You've moved on that quickly, huh? If I leave him, he will..." "You know, I was almost beginning to believe you... Can you imagine how I felt in THAT moment when I saw you in HIS arms? What game are you playing with me? I've felt like shit every moment since..."
All the sad memories that had been tearing at my heart found their way out. I realized that I was making a huge mistake here... but I just couldn't stop myself.
"Alex... I am so sorry... I..." Helena said. "Sorry for what? You've just said that you didn't do anything wrong!" I said. "If you think that I will accept your help after all of this... when you are so mean to me... I'm sorry... I just can't." "Fair enough, that's your choice... just know that I am always here for you if you need any more help..." "It's a pity... a real pity... that it had to come to this. If only I had known... I would have told you... but what's done is done. Ok, I should go." she said.
